N-ice – The Bruins diamond championship rings (Boston Bruins)

The Boston Bruins, who captured the 2010-2011 Stanley Cup, have been presented with their official championship diamond rings, and they are a sight to behold.

The Bruins’ B logo and an image of the Stanley Cup itself are depicted in diamonds on the ring’s face in a combination of brilliant cut and princess cut diamonds. The logo is surrounded by six diamonds – one for each cup championship the team has won. Each player’s ring is customized with his ring and sweater number, and the years of the Bruins’ championships (2011, 1972, 1970, 1941, 1939, and 1929) are also spelled out in diamonds. The rings are crafted in 14 karat white gold. Not only the players are rewarded with the coveted jewelry pieces – 505 rings have also been made, many of which are going to coaches and other members of the organization. Yahoo! Sports printed an overview of some other recent versions of the Stanley Cup championship rings. The 2010 winners, the Chicago Blackhawks, got $30,000 white gold rings set with over 400 diamonds, rubies, and emeralds. The Pittsburgh Penguins, who achieved their goal and captured in the cup in 2009, took home onyx and diamond rings that contained about 100 grams of gold apiece, making them the largest Stanley Cup rings ever handed out.
